I've hired lots of them, but come to a different conclusion. If illegales weren't available, I'd hire local citizens, or find a way to get the work done with machinery, or etc. I think the same is true elsewhere. By honoring the laws, we'll either adapt to the results or change the law. The current situation keeps millions afraid of law enforcement and in a minor form of enslavement, which is good for neither slave or slavemaster. It's an extension of the legal situation advocated by government in general, which is "keep everyone in violation of some form of law at all times, and they will be more compliant". If governmental law-keeping isn't kept honest, the eventual extension is no different than a police state.
