I'm generally familiar with Tropian's work, which seems very promising, but have not seen any evidence that any EDGE manufacturer is actually using its stuff. Tropian seems to have had to many high-level management changes for it to be successful but I do understand it has plenty of VC money so who knows.

There are probably others like Tropian out there. Similarly, I have seen no evidence that anyone is using their stuff to deal with the technical problems inherent in melding GSM and EDGE together.

The test will be at trials. If EDGE works well, it works well.

I find it odd, however, that no one is trumpeting the coming EDGE handsets--not the Nokia style to let an opportunity to blow its horn go by the wayside.
