Looking at peoples' bags and being alert for anything sitting on the floor, was disconcerting too. > Yes, that's one group... the ignorant Englishman who's parents forced those ignorant American Irish-American's parents and Grandparents to America but now refuse to acknowlege current suffering on intellectual grounds are another... as well as the 'partially experienced' Kiwi who judges current suffering as a "shouldn't be" because he saw the result of ignorance by one side. Perhaps the most ignorant of all are the ancestors of the relatives, friends, and neighbors of those Irish wronged for so many years by brutal oppressors. The more brutal the original truth... probably the more ignorant are those now having their own realites filtered through such preconceived ideas passed on. Next [perhaps as ignorant] come those who see this ignorance, simply declare it wrong, and pretend that there are no [or shouldn't be any] wounds now. "This wound shouldn't be a wound". This insistance can be very strong in those with their own related [perhaps unidentified, probably opposite side] festering wounds often resulting in strong self ritiousness created by denial. As can be predicted, ignoring a wound causes more pain. <What's your definition of IS? > Same as any dictionary... <But joking aside, the absurd idea that experiencing things directly is the only way to justify holding an opinion would mean that nearly everything couldn't be commented on by nearly everybody. > Yes, wonderful wouldn't it be? -1/2GGG- Just get the wounded together to talk about their wounds with no comments from the peanut gallery. Actually you probably need mediators without such strong filters in their heads. And of course it doesn't mean don't comment, it just means realize that those comments are tainted by predjudice created by all that has been stuffed onto ones particular hard drive AND that hard drives particular formatting creating a unique point of view. The mind often [with it's arsenal of facts] overrides simple truths like: why ARE those people SO pissed off as to give their own LIVES for a cause??? And misses the basic: "Maybe we better talk to them, check out their wounds". Typically the longer a wound is ignored, the harder the real truth is to look at... so painful... and especially when you have your own related wounds... perhaps those of guilt... real or imagined. Easier to focus on the latest wrong done YOU than face the pain of past truths and wounds. Besides, eventually the skin of generations will simply grow over and protect my wound no??? Hmmmm, leave a big [psychological] scar I suppose. <Try not to confuse is with was DAK.> No confusion... often the denial or uncertainty of what WAS creates confusion as to what should be, BUT what IS simply IS and can be of immense help the healing of past denials and uncertainties. <To play your silly game of personal denigration> But Mq... you're the one with the supposed pipeline to the truth on these issues, not me. I'm an admitted fool with few answers but not denying what IS and claiming it to be a "shouldn't be". On this issue I simply say: "Hey, you're ignoring reality here, past AND present" You're the one saying "this is wrong and shouldn't be happening"- as it continues to happen. DAK
