you make a good pt -- it's not just the real economy at stake -- government must inflate to keep it's present size and control intact as well. Our state has raided its rainy day fund already and still has a shortfall. Government funding is ponzi at its root -- even a mild slowdown exposes it for what it is ... I am vested in a state pension -- I coulda taken a lump sum, but it seemed so small compared to what I would recieve when I retire -- what that thinking ignores is what a dollar will buy when I retire -- the only reason I didn't cash it in, is I think of it as cheap insurance -- my wife would start drawing payments immediately for life, if anything happened to me ...
