Solon....

>>Well...birth and death are either meaningless transitions which neither begin nor end "identity"...or they are the beginning and the end of "identity". Did you have an identity 5000 years ago? Does identity imply awareness? And when we have no awareness...how do we claim "identity" under your scheme that consciousness is primal?>>

Do you believe that there is ONE (1) central End/Source to all creation?

If you do or could believe this then to argue that this ONE (1) End/Source's expression of love is what called you into "being" - ie. created you, your body and your spirit - is that much more plausable.

Do you agree?

Meaning is something we create and assign to choices and events. If you choose to view a birth as meaningless then that choice will inform your experience of the event.

Did you have an identity last night while you were asleep? How about the person that called themselves you that had lunch 20 years ago last Thursday. You may no longer remember that lunch. Does that mean it never happened?

Identity and awareness/consciousness are indeed interrelated, but they are not the same. We generally do not regard a temporary loss of memory/awareness as a loss of identity. The fact that at present I have no recollection of a life 5000 years ago by itself says little. After all, would you believe me if I said I did have such recollection?
