"That is fine, but my specific comment intentionally made the point that it was where it came from that mattered"

Which is why it was not a response to my post, but a separate assertion...which was my point...for the record.

"Funding a guy taking photographs of men pissing on other men is not one of them."

I would not vote for that either. I know there is a lot of that crap going around.

"Hey, buddy, the basis of democracy is that people DO know what their interests are- -short term, long term, and best."

No. The basis of democracy is that people vote for what they think their best interests are. Fortunately, the ignorant are too busy to vote. My comment stands: intelligent people (and those who care)--attempt to persuade the undecided and the uninformed. Democracy is all about persuasion and contemplation; it is not about force or free liquor in the voting queue.

"You seem to want to share my wallet"

Nope. All I said was that "A (rightful) distaste for communism keeps some people from agreeing to voluntarily share anything on a group basis". It was an observation that suspicion of the "group" is justified and appropriate.

"You may persuade all you want."

Certainly. Those unwilling to thoughtfully participate in democracy and persuasion have little credibility, and not much sympathy either. Let the voters express their opinions; and let their representatives take it all into account...
