Israeli Unity government collapses:

news.bbc.co.uk

This may be a good thing.

It will put pressure on the Israeli right to back off of funding more settlements, and will weaken Sharon's government and his ability to have "carte blanche" in affairs related to the peace process.

It might also provide Palestinian moderates the leverage they need to reach out to Israeli labor and bypass the heated rhetoric on both sides.

The problem is that we have many more articulate people on the right compared to the left.

But isn't that half the problem? I like to think of myself being in the middle, using pragmatic logic to navigate past the rhetoric of both the left and right. Oftentimes, due to human nature, that puts me towards the right. But I have just as many "left-oriented" positions.

All I see from John and many others are repetitions of what other pundits from the left are asserting, with very little analysis of whether these views actually can be applied to the reality of a situation being discussed.

I would love to see more PERSONAL opinions advanced by the left. To understand why they personally hold such views and to see if they are truly thinking things through... And I'm willing to have others do the same with my views.
