They're bred to be herders - cattle dogs. Hence the "Heel-er" - they nip at heels to herd cattle. The Australian Heelers are downright ugly things really, but they're very loyal, and quiet. Idaho very rarely vocalizes, usually only when there is someone at the door she doesn't know or when she's being protective outdoors. And even then its just a low throaty growl unless she's really pissed. Good for not disturbing the neighbors. :)
