King George II prays for guidance, so religion has got a lot of power with the biggest dog on the block. .

Doesn't mean the Southern Baptists (he is a Baptist, right?) rule the country and make the laws.

The Taleban certainly cut down opium growing and theft. We could do with a bit of theft reduction here. It's rampant because consequences are minimal. Violent theft is now endemic too.

Rudy Giuliani accomplished quite a lot in NYC with his "improving the quality of life" program - he cracked down on fare beaters, squeegee men, graffiti artists, jaywalkers etc. Not only did it make life in NYC more pleasant and orderly, a lot of people who had committed more serious crimes were caught. You don't have to go to the extremes of a Taliban.

I'd like them to add assault, murder and theft to the list of prohibited activities which attract major punishment.

Me too. :-)
