Ah ! My misunderstanding. On my screen, it read like

shorted NLY
(big Url....................... ...) April 17.5 puts

and I missed the puts part over on the far right !
My mistake.

On this one, I think you have two ways to win -
1) EZ Al cuts rates - NLY's cost of funds drops
2) US consumer Mortgage Refi has slowed dramatically in the past 2 weeks - this takes some of the pressure off Fannie and Freddie - this will cause the credit quality of their paper to improve, pushing up the asset value side of NLY.

I think your Gold wager will go well. Japan seem more determined to pump out Yen, and soon the ECB will get on board, as we all float to prosperity on a sea of currency...
