Mike, RE: But we have taken steps to beat the crap out of any country that won't give us what we want immediately and at a cheap price. That's the bottom line of the US foreign policy. Resources at low low prices. But you have to admit that the prez and co. have done a pretty good job of fooling many into believing that it's all about wanting those poor countries to have our brand of freedom, democracy, human rights... blah blah blah.
