I think it is more dehumanizing to call an alias demonic. What about you? You, oh fair and even handed Solon, have failed to mention JLA's use of the word demonic in describing CH. Perhaps you would like to comment on that bit of dehumanizing propaganda.

She exists separate from CH, and as I have already said...people deserve neither praise nor condemnation from the actions of others.

Your recent quarrel with X over the reality of posters was not an independent event. That argument was a proxy for the CH-Poet fight. Had you not perceived her side of that argument as sticking up for or rationalizing CH's behavior, you may not have gotten into it at all, much less with the intensity that you did. X has always expressed strange ideas like that and you have always entertained them with equanimity if not support or agreement. If that issue, on-line safety, had come up outside the context of the CH-Poet matter--a totally abstract discussion--you would not have fought with her over it.

So my point is that your contretemps with X is a function of the CH-Poet thing. And, as you said, it won't be fixed by CH's apology.

Those who would not accept such sincerity would naturally be addressed by Neo and others.

Has the thread ever discussed forgiveness? Surely we have. You made a point earlier about only a blackguard not being forgiving. I let it pass because I didn't want to get sidetracked, but I think you would not get a consensus on that. Victims of crime sometimes forgive and sometimes don't. Nobody blames people who can't see their way to forgive. God forgives. People are under no obligation to. Yes, there would be pressure to not beat on CH quite as hard, but as for people suddenly feeling all warm and fuzzy towards him, well, maybe some would. But some wouldn't. I think your expectations there are unrealistic. But I could be wrong. Ch has upset lots of people in lots of ways during this. Apologizing to Poet might fix it for her, but much would be left outstanding. What about his position that posters aren't real? Presumably he would still hold that position, even if he regretted his behavior with Poet. If you would continue to have a problem with X over her position on that, I assume you would continue to have a problem with CH over it.
