As of now, the sort of thing indicated in that article is not possible. The brain is simply not understood well enough. It's also possible that different people's brains will perform the same functions in different areas. This could seriously complicate the electronic mind reading.

The ultimate defense, though, at least for US citizens, should be the 5th amendment. If something like that is not self-incrimation, what is? Hopefully the USSC will rule the use of such technology in police investigations illegal.

Major war in the Septic Tank if you're interested.

Yes, I'll bet it was CSI. They do freaky close-ups of wounds, etc. On the Miami CSI last week, a coroner was propping up a cadaver and sticking a long rod through the entry and exit wounds, all the while chatting with her friend. That even grossed me out.

After a few shows.....

it's not much different than viewing reruns of

Ma and Pa Kettle on the Farm.....

you just get used to it.

I remember when K was about 4....

we were sitting on the floor watching Jaws....

the scene was when the Shark was on the boat eating the shark hunter.....

I put my arm around her and snuggled up a bit....

K looked up and said...."Dad, it's only a movie."

A lesson not to be forgotten.
