I will have to bury you for this extremely childish comment

You and Kruschev will "bury me", eh? :^)

zonder, your amazement at this answer to you about Amnesty International, and your reaction to Frank's remark about Israel being modern, by saying that Israel is,

>>>a country who engages in blatant expansionist policies, carries out brutal occupation and daily humiliation of an entire nation<<<<

shows just how far apart many of us on this thread are from not only you, but most other Europeans.

To start with, I suspect your opinions on these subjects would be considered as "moderate" in Monaco, but they would fit in at the far left of our Democratic Party, or even into the "Green" movement, here.

I think the people who run "Amnesty International" tend to be Pacifists, mainly leftists, who have a track record of believing the worst of the USA and Israel, and the best of the Palestinians and other Arab Countries. They personally agree with your assessment of Israel, from all that I have read over the years. Their opinions may be "Gospel" in Europe, and among the left here, but they are not accepted by the right here.

As far as frankw1900's "modern" remark about Israel, I, and I think frankw1900 and quite a few others here, believe

"Israel is an Island of reason in a Sea of Barbarism."

I am sure that remark horrifies you, but it the way a lot of us see it.

Could you, for a moment, stop to consider that maybe they are an independent organization that does not take sides but criticizes both sides at times?

zonder, Amnesty has a history of criticizing Israel more harshly and voluminously for the death of ten than any Arab regime for the death of ten thousand, aided, no doubt, by the ability of a free press to report on Israel's doings. They have had much less to say against Palestinian suicide bombing of civilians, or how the Palestinians incite their own children to become child-martyrs.

Casualties in Jenin were 23 to 56. In the same period, many thousands have died in Algeria, where is Amnesty? oops no report, too dangerous to report that conflict.
