"I'm just interested in whether you can admit it or not.

I admit that there was more than one period where the posting was largely substantive, interesting, and non-abusive.

"And if you answer yes to that, do you also agree that certain posters..."

I can not speak for other posters. I can speak for myself. Right at the moment I have an urge to do a sptttuiee all over this post....I am begrudging the strand of discourse that covers this day....There I guess that's my spit for the moment.

So, I can see where others might feel there is business left unfinished and the attraction to finish it or see it finished is very strong. I have to agree with Kholt and E to some extent. There are multiple issues existing in more than one context. The posters may lurk to see if there is some interesting discussion but bring the unfinished business with them. I don't think it is just about interferring with the current discussion because today I lurked at other sites and I see them engaging in lively discussions.

I can tell that you and X love it and love egging everyone to continue. I like the wrestling match too but not to the extent that it stiffles all of the substantive discussions.

I can see some posters coming here just to take up the gauntlet and have at it. It doesn't much matter who throws it out either. Well, duh its the boxing ring. That doesn't mean I believe anybody comes here just to interfere with interesting discussion. I don't actually think anyone does.

I don't think that starting a new thread (been tried before) will successfully keep people from wading into opportunities to deal with unfinished business. Except on the rules based thread it will always come out sideways instead of direct like it is here. I prefer to stay here and have the unfinished business dealt with so that everyone who likes to be left out of it could (neo, karen, etc.) while ideally we let the fighting flow and coexist with more substantive discussions.

Like you and X, I find some of it purely entertaining. Some of it I am very seriously interested in. I do not want to participate in things that are harmful and unlike you, I do think people can be harmed by what is said to or about them and that due consideration should always be applied.
