The concept of Al-Taqiyya is a Shi'ite concept of dissumation. The blatant lies to a non-Muslim or even a Muslim roots in the tragic events of Kerbala a practice of twelver shiites.. When an emanent danger is present Taqiyyah is allowed. But Sheikh Muhammed Ridha has considered Taqiyya to be important instrument however it should conform to some specific rules however he completely forbids wherein the killing of innocent people may result from such a practise. Khomeini only permitted this practise when one's life is jeopardised. The Quranic injunctions of Al-Taqiyyah is predicated on two verses of Quran, which are 3.28 and 16.106. Taqiyyah was widely used as a survival strategy for Shi'ites under Sunni hegemony in the times of Imam Sadiq. This was the time when Caliph al-Mansur was conducting a brutal oppressive campaign against the members of the house of Hashim. House of Hashim are the remnants of the house of Prophet. "just how pervasive do you believe this practice has become in Muslim cultures, and if it's extensive, any strategy you perceive as being a means of altering mindsets??" At the moment it may be a rampant practise amongst Shi'ite but amongst Wahabis and orthodox Sunnis it is not a prevalent practise.
