(Nasdaq: PSFT - News) today announced the opening of a North American support and development centre in Vancouver. The Company will invest CAD$20 million in 2002 in the facility and an initial staff of 75 people. PeopleSoft also plans to aggressively expand the centre over the next several years. PeopleSoft President and CEO Craig Conway announced the centre at a ceremony at the British Columbia Institute of Technology (BCIT). British Columbia Premier Gordon Campbell and other government and civic officials attended the event, at which Conway presented a $4 million software grant to BCIT President Tony Knowles. The grant, part of PeopleSoft's On Campus Program, will provide business students and future software developers with real-world experience in using the latest enterprise software. BCIT President Knowles said the software grant will help create more than 15 courses for students in both the business and IT curricula.
