It may be a sad winter for me and others who believe that violence is the last resort of the incompetent, but the subsequent fall of the US empire will be much harder for you, I suspect Bill.

How very sad. I remember a time when there was something called principles and dignity in international relations (i.e. no bullying) and the rest of the world looked up to the US, because it was the land of justice and liberty.

So the US will attack Iraq without UN support? I don't see how that will be good for them in the long run. Nor which base in which country they will use, for that matter.

Do you know how all the empires of the world stagnated and then collapsed, Bill?
1) They increased their sphere of influence in cover an impossibly large area of the world
2) In enforcing and "defending" this sphere of influence, they started to fight in too many fronts
3) They succumbed to conservatism and stayed behind while the rest of the world advanced in science and technology (ex: Ottoman Empire refusing the printing machine)

The first two obviously apply to the US. I thought of the third point while following the US administration's discourse on certain areas of biotech, stem cell research and cloning in particular.

But I digress... What I am trying to say is, good luck in your unilateral conquest of the world, Bill.
