It got much nastier than that. Remember Hamilton and Burr? Lethal force? And the publication of bald-faced slanderous lies in partisan newspapers was common. Uh, so what's changed? :-) I think they've prohibited guns in the chambers. Did the British Parliament have such colorful "debates"? They're different. I get a chuckle watching them. They have this tradition when a speaker makes a point the corresponding side of the aisle does a "here, here"; when the opposing side of the aisle disagrees there's a chorus of "grumble, grumble, grumble." Though outside of that, I think there's a smidgen less rhetoric and a little more content...just a smidge. Ian Duncan Smith, head of the conservative party, appears to have slit his wrists the other night. There was a party vote on an issue and everyone within the conservative party didn't vote the way Ian thought they should vote. ... why have a party if everyone doesn't vote the same way <LOL>....Now he says there's a conspiracy within the party on his leadership. In a press conference no less. There probably is a conspiracy but don't announce it, you look like a paranoid. jttmab
