The associated crimes come from the inflated price caused by illegality. If the drugs were legal, and cheap, the drug cartels would have to find more profitable businesses. Pretty simple, really.

Has nothing to do with lions and lambs. Economics explains most of it.

People wouldn't need to commit crimes to buy drugs if they were legal any more than they now commit crimes to buy already legal drugs like alcohol or tobacco.
