Massachusetts came, from the results I've seen, remarkably close to eliminating their income tax. That should be a huge wake-up call to the politicians, but it won't be.

The income tax is the only thing that has allowed our federal government to expand the way it has and gobble the amount of GDP it has. If we had a national referendum process, I'm betting the income tax would be gone.

And IMO that would not be a bad thing.
