I think a long Qcom short SMH, or picking several P/c centric chip stocks is an interesting hedge. Qcom is cheaper and has a better balance sheet and growth then many chip stocks

It just seems that way because intc and csco have done better over the last week. Qcom outperforms them handily on the 3 and 6 month charts.

I just can not understand how our Q going forward is any worser than Intel and CSCO and it seems these two stock defy gravity and our Q is not.

In what respect are those companies defying gravity and the Q not? With regard to a couple of traditional valuation measures, Price to sales and TTM PE, Q appears to be defying gravity more than the others. One could argue that expectations for decent growth for Q going forward is already built into the price and then some.

P/S TTM PE
QCOM 8.93 79.41
INTC 4.59 48.53
CSCO 4.66 33.38

No, but I did take out a short position after earnings for the first time. As long as they keep up this pro forma BS, the company will continue to be discounted by many.
