KT,

Jimmie is right as long as the borrowers of this capital are using it for productive investments. Are you convinced we have a group of lenders today that would recognize productive investments. <g> I don't know how people think these days as far as savings is concerned. During the 1990's I think people thought they were savings with the 401k plans and got hooked on crazy increases in the paper value of these "savings". When I started working I was saving a percent of my take home pay in conservative savings like treasuries at par and I can remember low interest rates and high interest rates. I never worried about losing this capital. If I was buying stocks I knew this was casino money.

The question I have is where are the heads of this generation to save with no risk and get low returns on their savings. I think you are right about "beaten down so hard that spending is the last thing on their mind". Do you have to take it all away before they get the message. I have had a couple of clients lately that have found themselves in this position like 90% and 95% losses. What concerns me is how many of the folks in this generation have no funds to save after spending for basic survival. There is lots of debt out there.

Now would you please tell me who the honest companies are that have a return on capital and shareholder equity is increasing.

Joan
