When scripture makes a simple statement that "Yahweh is one" without any qualification or hint that this is to be understood metaphorically then we should take it at face value. In other words, simply because a word can mean something does not mean that it does in a particular instance.

Since both meanings are valid and common about the word 'Echad, it has more than one 'face value.'

But alarmingly, he misquotes the verse in question. It is not "Yahweh is one." It is "Yahweh, our God, is one Lord."

Meaning this: The term 'Elohim' is used for God. It is a plural noun in Hebrew! Why is that, Frederick, if He is a solitary Being as you imply?
