Exactly. Even tho' the Soc Security formulas are changed from time to time (which is one reason they cannot be a dependable retirement), with each change the computation for future liability would simply be changed.

The scam is using an illusion of future guaranteed revenue as the basis for taxing everyone in the present. In fact, it's a tax, and the largest one for many people.

I had an experience like that at the county level with a traffic ticket. Waiting 4 hours in court, I was one of the last ones to get heard. Just before me a poor, elderly disabled woman told the judge she drove 2 hours to get there to tell her story that it was a rainy, dark night on Xmas eve and she didn't see the red zone she was parked in at the mall, and she was fixed income and couldn't afford the $80 fine. Bang! the judge hit the gavel and gave her 30 days to pay.
I got up and told the judge there's a better way to encourage compliance -- leniency. Bang! My fine was not waived either, even tho' it was a questionable incident.

When I went to the window to pay and told the clerk about the woman, she had no hesitaton:" but you have to pay !". There was an immediate realization that we all are walking checkbooks to those who work in government. Their paychecks and survival depends on those fines and taxes continuing regardless of the cost.

Social Security is the same thing on the trillion-dollar level in Washington. Regardless of the consequences to their integrity, this bogus arrangement must be continued at all costs, the bureacracy will fight and lie for it. The truth is that it is simply a tax, and there is no money to pay future obligations.
