That sounds very reasonable. It isn't the $US 280,000 that that UK plumber was supposedly earning which you said was peanuts compared to US salaries.

Of course different academic disciplines earn very different salaries in the US unlike socialist Britain or Australia :)

Hi Pearly - That data of ~80k for process engineer include Texas, New York State and Maine. Silicon Valley is about 30%-40% higher, Oregon about 10-15 % higher.

Get stock options and you have a maybe a 1 in 4 chance of making another 50k in about 3-4 years.
