It is a delight to read an old Liberal like Herbert of the NYT while he whines about how bad things are going to get. I can chortle with glee all the way through. I just realized that the Republicans have the same numbers in Congress now that they had in '94. But they don't have the combative Leaders out front now. Just that amiable, nice conciliatory Bush. The ending sentence, "with the Treasury drained of all money for new initiatives," means, "we won't be able to pass our Welfare projects!" The word you are looking for is "schadenfreude". As Krauthammer says, Conservatives think Liberals are stupid, Liberals think Conservatives are evil.
