nobody knows. for all the spreadsheets in the world, we are all still, at bottom, guessing. that's why we don't place all our eggs in one basket.

what i don't like about EXPE is (a) they are still in a strong phase on option-flipping and (b) numbers with big zeros keep popping up and moving around on their financial statements.

that would be enough for me, normally, but i won't short EXPE today because there are too many people using the stock the way Zeev is using it: as an ATM.

but i have litte doubt - a strong guess if you will - that its day will come like it has for every other stock flying on the gossamer wings of momomania.

2)Barriers to entry to this business are not unlimited and therefore much like any growth sector, it will experience heavy competition in the near future. Namely orbitz.com

Please, this is what people said about Ebay and after a zillion auction sites being started I don't see a whole lot of sites still standing, let alone any that are profitable. Capital is so free flowing right now, almost anyone could open this biz, right?

how would you like that crow served?? <gg>.. beginning of the end..

8:47AM Expedia could be dealt blow by Bush airline reservation plan -- WSJ (EXPE) 72.35: The WSJ reports that the Bush administration today is expected to propose changes that would give airlines more flexibility in choosing how they distribute tickets. Under the administration's approach, the airlines can continue to give Orbitz exclusive access to special Web-only bargain airfares. The article speculates that move would deal a major blow to Orbitz rivals such as Expedia. Computer-reservation system owner Sabre (TSG) is also listed as an opponent of this plan.

hey Grace.. how are those spread sheet projections for EXPE coming along??

Maybe the only valid reason you have to sell it considering it is apparent you don't know the answers to my other questions. But this is good, because you helped me win a bet. My bet was that shorts do just as little real fundamental analysis of the companies they hold positions on as longs back in the bubble days, that they are simply hoping that the predominant trend in the market will continue.

EXPE was $72 then, trading at $56 right now <gg>
