hi eric "I also make sure everything's squeaky clean using them before the install" therein lies, quite possibly, the biggest key. seems that the norton utility suite does its very best work when used as a preventative tool for system maintenance. everything tends then to meld together quite happily. but when people run into a jam and turn to norton to extricate them, the rewards and results are not as great. "I've been using the Norton Utilities and Anti-Virus (now rolled into SystemWorks) since PC Tools rolled into Norton" wow, there's some longevity for ya. thanks for the input. it's quite sensible, imo :) mark
