hmmm, msft expense might be lower only because msft stock has been effectively flat for a few years.

In terms of the number of options granted msft was always right up there with cisco.

Thanks for posting those numbers. They raise a thought: If these were generally known (by investors, employees) as the real operating results, they would surely (in due course)have a significant impact upon the internal behavior of these companies. This I think will be the net result of S&P's reporting of core earnings, particularly if institutional investors begin to pepper the managements with questions about these disparities, as I'm sure some will.
