I really think the demise of the left here is the natural result of the outcome of the elections. It was a real blow to some of our regulars.

You have got to be kidding. Personally I think its just the brutality of the thread. This is an extremely aggressive right wing thread and you are as aggressive as anyone could be. It is very hard for anyone to challenge this board as a middle-left opinion gets gang raped quickly. I present this not as picking a fight but giving feedback to posters on how they are perceived. SR has some valid points.

Re Why FADG is "not hearing much from the left anymore"

If this sheds any light on the issue, I have been receiving quite a few PMs from people saying they do not post on FADG anymore because of the harassment they receive from the more aggressive regulars. They say they cannot take it anymore.

Oh, like, the thread was brimming with "left" ideas prior to the elections? :)

One more bogus generalization for the road, eh, Bill? I can speak only for myself. This will in all likelihood be my last post here, and I'd have been perfectly happy to go gentle into that good night without comment if you hadn't insisted on presenting such a juicy target. I promise you, it has nothing whatsoever to do with the elections. The war card traditionally plays pretty well. Congress never really has much control on foreign policy matters anyway. Conventionally, the Secretary of State does, but Perle and the neocon legions seems to have rendered convention somewhat obsolete there. I wouldn't consider that something to rejoice about, but that's just me.

I suffer from a bit of cognitive dissonance on what does and doesn't constitute "thread bloat"; my personal perception is that endless regurgitation of conservative op-ed columns and random political sniping match that phrase quite well, but I'm not the ultimate arbiter there. That's life. I assume that this thread will continue to drift toward a tolerable Republican model of "diversity"; a more conventional definition of that word might be considered "PC" or "postmodern" or something equally heinous.

I think it's more, but the elections were a catalytic event. Kinda reminds me of a period when Solzhenitzin gave his famous "Ivy League" speech after his release. The Left began to get real quiet about the virtues of communism and the harmlessness of the Soviet Union. :o}

Imo the left is quietly praying that Carl Bilow is right and that Saddam wants to trade WMD for Sanctions. ;o}

Hu LB,

I saw it as a razor's edge -- doesn't bother me a bit. Could go completely the opposite with just a few percentage points of change. I think GW and Rove ran a smart and effective campaign for the Repubs.

But this is OT isn't it...
