Glad to see you guys down under are still hanging onto the world. :-)

That Qatar TV station (al Ghazera?) has released a new purported OBL tape. In oit he says Oz should have expected an attack because it had supported US actions in the ME. What's your reaction to that?
(a) yeah, those bums got themselves into that mess; let them get themselves out
(b ) D**NED if some raghead is going to tell Oz what to do!
(c) Fill in the blanks: ____________________________________________________________

OPEC: When the Oil Embargo was committed, what would you have had the US do to fix the situation? Launch?
Because we were looking at war if we tried to "fix" it.

And yes, thee are oil interests that would like high prices. But there are lots of other interests that don't. Economically, those other interests outweigh oil in terms of wealth.

Yes, you need to ask "Who benefits?" But you also need to ask "Who bleeds?"

France has many nuclear reactors. If oil is cheap, the nuclear reactors are unprofitable. The price of electricity is a function of oil prices.
Not so fast! That depends on the electricity market in France is structured. I don't know how it is set up. Do you? Anyone?
If it is a government monopoly (a fairly common situation), then the price of oil may have no influence on the price of electricity. "You want kilowatts? You pay what we charge."
