Re 'costly upgrade'

This article gives the impression that Oracle is trying to gouge its customers (as M$FT is doing with exchange server for example)
No doubt there will be costs incurred in the upgrade process as for any upgrade (time and labor) but AFAIK there is no licence charge to upgrade to 11i applications, unless you wish to take new 11i applications at the same time.

I think its too early to force an upgrade to 11i, personally. Especially since 10.7 is the old c/s model and 11i is 3-tier there is too much work involved on the part of the customer base... oracle should wait one more year.

This is the kind of thing that burns CIOs on technology, haven't we learned in this bear that pushing stuff on customers has a nasty backlash.
