Brew, how 'bout a nice sound sweep across the audience, perhaps tracking light beams? Also, the beam can be widened, and the sound sent to the back of the concert area, with minimal lessening of volume and maximal clarity. S.

It's my understanding that when the beam hits a solid object, the sound bounces and sounds as if it is coming from that object. Couldn't these objects be strategically located in the audience and act as wireless speakers? This could reduce or eliminate the need for amplification to drive the huge speakers that are used in a typical outdoor concert environment in order to push the sound a great distance. Also, I'm not sure of this, but I thought the beam could be spread out to cover a wider area. I understand that HSS is not yet perfected for the extreme low sounds, but if it handles the spectrum of sound for the average listener, it seems to me there might be a real application in both indoor and outdoor concerts. Does anyone have knowledge that would support or refute what I've said here? When I visited San Diego a few years ago, RP was kind enough to have Woody's son give me a demo of the technology that existed at that time, which was amazing but not yet at the stage where it handled music to their satisfaction. I stood about 40 feet from the transmitter and it seemed like the sound was coming out of my body. If RP is listening, I can probably volunteer some of our musicians to see how well today's version perfoms for music!!!
