LOL. Don't kid yourself. When push comes to shove these countries aren't our friends. We just aren't of the cloth and supporting Israel makes it real dicey.
Maybe a lot of them would like to get rid of Saddam but it runs a whole lot deeper than that.


I'm not kidding myself. And you're right, the notion of us running in and installing a democracy in a place where democracy isn't cool is a bit much. And they aren't our friends, and won't be during our lifetimes.

However, when these people are freed from the grips of tyranny, they will react in the same way that the Kuwaitis did when we liberated them. We will still have done a good thing and the Iraqi people will still know it.

This condition may not hold for long, however. Over the coming 15 years the region is going to be plagued with infighting over something which can cause more hatred than religious differences: Water shortages.
