Hard to make Clinton responsible for the massive politically-motivated pornography published daily by Republicans. I find it difficult to forgive those Gingrich-type actions. If he harassed employees, that's news to one of his girlfriends I met, now the wife of a friend of mine. Btw, she showed us a love letter from him during the '92 election, and decided not to go public.. I thought that would have blown sky high, and since I was for Perot, kind of wished she would have... As far as worsened accountability in agencies, start with SEC and a bumbling Pitt who appointed ex-spook Webster, failed to "get the real killers" but instead went after a few photo-ops with Worldcom, let Lay off the hook in spite of likely offshore connections w. Bush, failed to force investigations into offshore accounts etc Then look at DOD and DOJ's FOIA changes, google will show articles. Yes, hiding of papers has tremendously increased under Bush. Suddenly, without precedent, 20 YEARS OF PRESIDENTIAL PAPERS HAVE BEEN WHITHHELD FROM FOIA EXAMINATION, GOING BACK TO REAGAN and his various escapades, which include some of the same gang in power today, of course. This also includes Clinton's papers, more fuel to the fire, and avoidance of real investigation. Of course, there is a lawsuit by GAO and National Archives, but that gives the spooks time to shred anything that might be "troublesome" Congress was rushed into accepting the Patriot Act without reading it, by the Executive branch, DOJ, and while that was failing, there was a coincidental near-fatal anthrax attack on the Democratic leadership Gephardt and Dashle, who got the message, and which still hasn't been resolved. The facts are that Ashcroft's press conference on 10am June 10th was later admitted to be without merit, on an arrest over a month old and of no current news value, of a guy who had no materials and of no imminent danger to the US. This was an awkwardly put-together news conference, from Moscow A DOZEN TIMEZONES AWAY, coincidentally timed to coincide with a previously-announced National Press Club conference with 80 of the vitims' families of 9/11 and the leading critics of the administration's failure to investigate the massive intel and admin failures. The agenda of that news conference is on www.unansweredquestions.org. The national press planned to cover it, until the hasty Ashcroft announcement. Saying "in war things happen" excuses the remarkable coincidence that the top terrorist leadership gets a pass to flee to Pakistan. Had we eliminated them we might lose their influence on American politics. Don't misstate me - Rummie said $2 trillion was missing, no one said over 18 months, except you. The missing funds accumulated over an unknown period, possibly since Rummie was last in charge 20 years ago. Your label of "liberal" is a contrived one, and the only way you can dismiss facts, rather than doing any independent thinking. I'm happy with liberals, even tho' I don't vote that agenda wrt to gun control, abortion or taxes, it turns out Dems have been fiscally much more responsible than GOP over the past 25 years, so these labels have little utility for any discussion of facts. I'm not happy w. Dems being fatally disorganized and spinelessly allowing our country to be looted and made mean-spirited, so there is a third party of Independents that will emerge that I'll probably associate with. But not necessarily. Meanwhile I'm an individual citizen who like a hundred million others is screwed by the emerging all-powerful central government run by insiders.
