I finally upgraded the old DELL to WIN98 (I have a copy<g>) and I was having problems with my VID card among other things...since I'd done a formatC I was in a position of freedom where I could simply start all over without much pain....after getting everything sweet I did a WIN update and that is where it all got cloudy. I think it was the updated ATI driver that tossed me into repeated restarts into SAFE MODE...luckily I was able to boot from my WINstartipDisk and reformat C again...as of now things are nice a quiet....this is the machine that the kids are allowed to use for games so I expect this calm to be followed by a STORM

good luck over there MrM

I realize that I'm not making any breakthrough statements here , but have you tried to do a system restore?..just back her up a day or two

Yikes, I installed yesterday's Intelligent update on one PC w/XP Pro and haven't had any problems. I guess I'm left holding the Norton torch.
