Yes, had he not done that, or stonewalled questions, he should have been booted. We had a clear-cut war to fight, without any hanky-panky on the part of those bringing the war to us (with the exception of U.S. financiers like Prescott Bush financing the Nazis before and after declaration of war), and states making those declarations. No problem, motivate the country, ask for sacrifices, and go fight, and die if necessary to protect our allies. That went awry after WWII when the decision was made by DOD that the war-footing was pretty nice, we needed to counter the USSR anyway, and this business of scaring the crap out of everyone all the time is pretty profitable. Now we have "terrorism" with various explanations of who, where, and why. Fine, let's aggressively protect ourselves, but mealy-mouthed excuses for failing in continuing variety of ways to capture "the real killers" or answer unanswered questions, hiding the President from news conferences, even hiding the VP from news conferences, is a joke. It's not that they're useless, it's more that they are wittingly or unwittingly pathalogical, causing more harm than good, in spite of the well-oiled PR machinery. Maybe not, maybe they're doing the best they can, and just don't feel it's necessary to have news conferences and answer questions... Too busy, I guess. ("Next question")Sounds good but its probably politically impossible Also you would have to change the civil service laws. The massive bureaucracy that we have can shrink by attrition. The effect of actually looking at the outputs of agencies would be immediate, tho', sending the message throughout government and Wall Street that accountability is desirable and fiscal disaster avoidable, without global belligerence or control of oil resources.Enron bust, indicted True, but nice-guy VP who knows where the bodies are buried offshore suddenly becomes one of them, and head honcho Kenny Boy, with a PhD in economics and insider with the Bush administration, strangely gets a pass, without even testifying beyond the Congressional charade. Not a good appearance, imo.
