If he avoids war I will give him credit and vote for him next time around.

a) I don't believe you.

b) Hasn't he done everthing conceivable in his effort to avoid war? You and Helen Thomas keep accusing him of "wanting" to go to war, yet he has taken extraordinary steps preciesely to avoid it. You and every other liberal had already proclaimed Bush to be determined to go to war, before the negotiations ever began.

We are, today, precisely where we were trying to get to -- where we were before Clinton allowed Saddam to deny access to inspectors without repercussion. If a war happens, it will be because Saddam didn't live up to HIS commitment.

I just don't see that you have anything to complain about. Once again, Bush has "threaded the needle".

Alighieri,

re:Do you think Cheney and Rumsfeld will let him?

Cheney and Rumsfeld are just two voices, does it really matter what they think if Saddam disarms fully?

You do understand Bush must go to the UN again to make the case that Saddam has not complied with the resolution before he can act.

Al,

If he avoids war I will give him credit and vote for him next time around. Do you think Cheney and Rumsfeld will let him?

Don't you think that at this point, it is up to Saddam to decide if there will be war or not. I think Bush and the UN pretty clearly outlined the path Saddam needs to take to avoid war.
