Agreed. Or the Goths or the Finns, who wrote the original source material (the Elder Eddas and the Kalevala).

Very true. Especially since Elvish is based on Finnish! Tolkien is a very interesting guy in and of himself. The books themselves are stories in Tolkien's love affair with language. I dug up a link I had saved that is a good summary of the Nordic contribution to Tolkiens' writing, from the American-Scandinavian Foundation. Interesting stuff.
