I've heard that the gift-giving scene is back in the Extended Edition and I'm looking forward to seeing it. I'm still waiting for Amazon to deliver my dvds. Now I'm interested in seeing what other cut footage they included on the dvds. Maybe I'll have to look at grabbing a copy too. Agreed. Or the Goths or the Finns, who wrote the original source material (the Elder Eddas and the Kalevala). Very true. Especially since Elvish is based on Finnish! Tolkien is a very interesting guy in and of himself. The books themselves are stories in Tolkien's love affair with language. I dug up a link I had saved that is a good summary of the Nordic contribution to Tolkiens' writing, from the American-Scandinavian Foundation. Interesting stuff. amscan.org Derek
