As far as Clinton is concerned regarding 9/11, I think it is more about what he did not do, not what he did. If he indeed did something decisive about the real enemy - Bin Laden (rather than dealing with make-believe enemies), I think we would hear from Als of the world, because there is a real resistance on the left about fighting real enemies of America, be it communists or radical muslims (and to some extend Saddam). I think this is because in their hearts, they believe that America is evil, and therefore there must be something good about enemies of America. Joe, this argument is the reason why I spend little time on this thread. First, the right refuses to hear the left's viewpoint. If the left disagrees at all with the right's strategy, they get labeled a traitor. Bush tried that in NJ and it backfired btw. But there is too much of that labeling going on. Secondly, the right seems to think that by going around blowing up the planet, everyone will be scared into good behavior. That ain't going to happen. In fact, that's what bin Laden is hoping for. Thirdly, apparently the left can see both sides of the conflict whereas the right can not or will not. When you see both sides of a conflict, then there is no 100% right.......usually both sides are to blame. Its why I cannot wholeheartedly support the Israeli position. However, the right wants to ignore those issues and conclude that since the Israelis look and act more like us, they are the good guys and the Palestinians are the bad guys. If only it were that simple.......and by ignoring the facts, we are helping to prolong the misery. You don't think that I and others don't see what Bush is seeing.....of course, we do but its only a small part of the picture. Its why Bush looks so stupid to me and others of the left. And its why my questions never get answered. I am very concerned......the US continues down a very wrong path for which we will pay dearly. Worse, Bush has a lot of the people behind him......and that will emboldened him. And let me make clear, the consequences of what we do now may not be felt for several years or even more but felt they will be. ted
