Realtor is a trademark association requiring annual dues paid to NAR. In our neck of the woods, it is not mandatory for the broker to become a Realtor. If a broker elects to do so, then all affiliates must do the same. All are real estate agents. Most brokers, however, elect to become members of NAR and carry the additonal badge of Realtor.

As a side note, Realtor.com has a relationship established with the local mulitple service and perhaps with MLS. Its terms expressly state that all listings will be published on Realor.com website as long as they are paying member to the NWMLS, Realtor or not. However, not only can the seller can elect to not participate with other ancillary websites, but the broker can elect to do not participate as well provided the NWMLS has been so notified.
