Iraq war pushback - why and what - some rank speculation -

1) North Korea got to the front of the agenda. Not being talked about much.

2) Desire to keep War on Terrorism working and not have it turn into war on Arabs/Muslims and push Iraq and terrorist together. They don't like each other - deep differences - why give them a common cause.

3) Fear that war will mess up Christmas sales, tank the economy. If you push teh war back and price of oil drops, thsi gives the economy a boost from lower energy prices - has a very big impact on consumer spending.

4) After the Bali bombing and the Moscow theartre attack, much more of the world is committed to War of Terroism - U.S. does not need to go it alone as much as we did a few months ago.

Note that the aircraft carriers are still moving toward Iraq. I think Saddam will allow in inspectors as long as the carriers are nearby.

A Fall 2003 war allows much more time for Allied preparations, including more cruise missles, JDAM bombs, Chemical protective gear, etc. Also allows funding and training of the forces we want to run Iraq after the fight.
