Held up for the past two years as the shining exception to
Wall Street's brutal and seemingly endless employee purges,
Lehman Brothers is poised for some serious bloodletting of
its own, several market sources said. Ex-Lehman employees,
headhunters and rival bankers all said that Lehman plans to
trim its nearly 13,000 employees by anywhere from 6 percent
up to an extreme of 20 percent across the board over the next
few months.
