And the Government is WISE because it is sometimes so; and the Government is STUPID because it sometimes is? No it is arbitrary because too often it isn't limited by the constitution. Its not 100% arbitrary because sometimes the constitution or other limiting factors have an effect but if it can step beyond the constitution regularly without negative effect it has escaped the limitation of the constitution. If it escapes its proper limitations repeatedly and without consequence then it has become arbitrary. "No I do define what is right for the group" No, you don't. That works in a dictatorship if you command sufficient force. It doesn't work on SI or anywhere else. You do not have that power. Its not a matter of power. I don't impose my definition on anyone. Oh. That is a different concept than defining what is right for the social group. No. It is a different concept but the label "defining what is right for the social group" still fits it if I define what is right and wrong or what I consider to be right and wrong for the whole group. You can make such a definition without imposing it on anyone or even without any one else accepting it. Whatever...so we both agree that taxes are necesssary, then? Yes. Jesus preached the living word of God. Why is it relevant whether or not this woman had a bible?? I've never seen a direct quote from Jesus in the Bible that said the poor will enter hell if they don't give away everything they have. The closest to that is the parable of the rich man in Matthew 19:- "19:16 Now19 a man came up to him and said, "Teacher, what good thing must I do to gain eternal life?" 19:17 He said to him, "Why do you ask me about what is good? There is only one who is good. But if you want to enter into life, keep the commandments." 19:18 "Which ones?" he asked. Jesus replied, "Do not murder, do not commit adultery, do not steal, do not give false witness, 19:19 honor your father and mother20 and love your neighbor as yourself."21 19:20 The young man said to him, "I have kept all these things.22 What do I still lack?" 19:21 Jesus said to him, "If you wish to be perfect, go sell your possessions and give the money23 to the poor, and you will have treasure24 in heaven.25 Then come, follow me." 19:22 But when the young man heard this he went away sorrowful, for he was very rich.26 19:23 Then Jesus said to his disciples, "I tell you the truth,27 it will be hard for a rich person to enter the kingdom of heaven. 19:24 Again I say,28 it is easier for a camel29 to go through the eye of a needle30 than for a rich person to enter into the kingdom of God." But even then 1 - It doesn't directly say that he will enter hell and 2 - The passage continues with - "19:25 The31 disciples were greatly astonished when they heard this and said, "Then who can be saved?"32 19:26 Jesus33 looked at them and replied, "This is impossible for man,34 but for God all things are possible."" In any case I don't want to get in to a big war analyzing Bible quotes esp. since in both of our opinions people don't face hell for refusing to give away every last possestion. Tim
