KDDI Tops Mobile Phone User Survey in Tokyo Area November 19, 2002 (TOKYO) -- KDDI Corp.'s au service took first place in the greater Tokyo area for the first time, according to the J.D. Power and Associates mobile phone customer satisfaction survey released Monday. The high rating is believed to reflect the popularity of the company's recently launched CDMA2000 1x third-generation phones and its improving corporate image. The survey covered 3,300 people, equally divided among the Tokyo, Nagoya and Osaka areas. In the Tokyo area, users were asked to rate carriers in terms of charges, quality of service, functionality of handset and other factors. Au scored 105 points compared with 99 for No. 2 J-Phone Co. and NTT DoCoMo Inc.
