Chaebols Get Bulk Of BSNL Orders (BSNL floated the tender in Aug 2002 to acquire mobile and fixed line phones based on CDMA 20001x technology) NOVEMBER 19, 2002 12:00AM FINANCIAL TIMES LIMITED, ALL RIGHTS RESERVED LG and Hyundai have got majority of BSNL's tenders to procure mobile phones and fixed terminals based on wireless in local loop (WLL) technology. BSNL floated the tender in Aug 2002 to acquire 4,20,000 mobile phones and 2,88,000 fixed line phones based on Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA) 20001x technology. The mobile phones are priced Rs5,220 a unit and fixed line phones, Rs8,140 a unit. However, BSNL will decide the final price to be offered to subscribers after including taxes and duties. wirelessweek.com
