I'm very doubtful myself

Does any "Goodwill" visit do any good? Ali is revered around the world, and the State Department types like to spend money on this type of thing. I remember when they used to love to send Louis Armstrong everywhere, and the time, during the Little Rock Riots, that he refused to go.

Hi Condor; I think that sending US celebrities, especially Muslim celebrities, to Afghanistan does some good.

It makes the locals more want to emulate the US. It shows us with a more human face. It shows that the US cares.

These things may not be worth as many divisions as the Pope has, but they do mean something in terms of winning hearts and minds.
