yep... that's very interesting. anybody curious (again) about whether or not INTC made a bid for LMNE? that sure would have solved a lot of problems....

Let's see if I got this right. Intel just announced the availability and pricing of components that facilitate the building of 10 Gbps eithernet optical transceivers. MRV was the first vendor to build and demonstrate a transceiver using the Intel interface components.

Sounds like great news but I wonder:

Since the announcement says MRV was the "first" (maybe not the only vendor) to demonstrate. So who else has demonstrated similar transceivers. Who are MRV competitors and how far behind are they in the development? And when will these new MRV transceivers be available for sale and is anybody lined up to buy them? First to market is an important advantage but if LU is only a few weeks behind it may not mean much.
