You had a water pipe? At my grandma's house, we used a kitchen pump and an outhouse. Grandma use to cook a big farmer's breakfast every morning..although no one did much farming any more. My grandpa would put a teaspoon of sugar and cream in his coffee and then stir it. He always left the spoon in the cup when he had a sip. I thought that was wonderful, so I tried it with my 1/2 and 1/2 coffee. I left my spoon in the cup, and almost poked my eye out. My grandma told me, "Don't imitate that old fool. You'll poke your eye out."
